The way I approach the material has a lot to do with my fascination with chance, chaos and randomness on one side, and rituals, repetition and patterns on the other side. I explore memory and the unconscious through symbolism, figuration and abstraction. My practice has developed through the accumulation and reworking of themes and motifs that span a few different media. The language of material play an essential role in my work. I create paintings, drawings, text and, most recently, sculptures. These works are process-oriented and characterized by violent accidental marks, which are often accompanied by repetitive marks, symbols, numbers, letters and paint-pouring.
My other, more collaborative, transdisciplinary or research-based works, include international artistic and cultural projects that address and respond to the social, cultural, and psychological needs of distressed and displaced communities.
